Unless you have emigrated to living under a rock for the past year or so you will be well aware of the impending Pro Boxing Vs MMA duel that is happening on August 26th in the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, the hugely anticipated bout between Mayweather and McGregor. While both have reached the pinnacle in their respective careers this fight is all about the money, it’s not about the fighting. It is, some might say, a mock fight, but why?
Mayweather is a boxer while McGregor is not a boxer per se. Yes he throws a mean dig enough to floor some of his opponents but he is an MMA fighter, completely different, that being said, it’s a game for money and for show. Both fighters just love the green dollar, Mayweather is frequently flaunting his wealth on his various social channels as is McGregor. The simple truth of the matter is no matter how big MMA is at the moment, Pro Boxing is still streets ahead for earning potential, hence McGregors interest in this match up, and lets be honest here Mayweathers earning from boxing is waning as retirement has kicked in.
When the final bell goes who will be victorious? The agents, the TV channels, the fighters, the sponsors, they will make millions upon millions in revenue and the PPV will probably set a new record.
What happens if McGregor pulls of the seemingly impossible and beats Mayweather? Well there won’t be a rematch if Mayweather wins easily. There would be one for sure if McGregor wins, with a lot more interest, promotion and maybe McGregor getting into actual boxing as he’s popular enough to make a couple of fights.
Whatever the outcome one thing is for sure both can walk away and sip cocktails on a beach while admiring their bank balances, knowing they will never have to work again.
