New movie to Netflix ‘It follows’ didn’t make the mainstream when it came out to the cinema in 2015. But according to over 225 independent reviews from movie review site Rotton Tomatoes, it scored a 97%! Very rare for a horror film. These type of films normally score very poorly, so what makes this new horror film on Netflix any good?
Whats it about?
This supernatural horror thriller is based on a sexual tryst. The bloke Jay, learns that her date has passed on a lethal curse (No not HIV). That would have made the critics give it another 3% as that would definitely be 100% a true horror movie, but no, the curse is lethal in so far that it can only be shed by sleeping with another unsuspecting partner.
Whats the experts say?
According to film expert Quentin Tarantino, who has lived breath and seen more movies than we have seen a TV has said it’s ‘the best premise I’ve seen in a horror film in a long, long, long time’, while Empire, the bible of serious film criticism, described it as ‘a first-rate horror movie, It Follows adds a new monster to the pantheon’
The Guardian even went on to say that “I don’t think I have ever had a nightmare quite as scary as this film – a modern classic of fear to be compared to something by a young Carpenter or De Palma”
What do us Blokes think?
Well, it’s a bit mad, probably hard to get the missus to sit down and watch it with you unless she’s into those horror movies, but this one is bound to give her a couple of jumps, to say the least. But to be honest the story line is a bit mad but definitely worth a watch!
